Hostal Emeritae

This boutique guesthouse has brought a breath of fresh air to Mérida’s rather dowdy budget hotel scene. Set in a solidly restored townhouse, the Emeritae is ideally located a couple of minutes’ walk from the Roman ruins. Décor is contemporary, with high quality fixtures and fittings including soundproofing, air-conditioning, and power showers. There’s no restaurant or pool, but you can help yourself to a drink and a snack from vending machines in an attractive flower-filled patio or grab a lounger on the small roof terrace in summer. If you’re traveling alone, a small single room can be had for as little as 30€. The staff are fluent in English and warmly welcoming.
