1 Hotel South Beach

A refreshing departure from the slick, South Beach hotels hopped up on the latest design trends, 1 Hotel South Beach is an eco-conscious homage to the hotel’s natural surroundings. The hotel’s ‘biophilic’ design is intended to connect guests with nature and sustainability, and it succeeds. The lush greenery and natural woods are straight out of a Malibu beach house, but not Barbie’s—you won’t find hot pink in this place. Rooms are awash in soothing, sandy, upscale beachy décor, with uber comfy Keetsa—organic, natch—mattresses, and soft bedding, rain showers, and filtered water taps. A Leed Silver-certified hotel, the 426-room property also has enviable green practices, like zero waste kitchens that source from sustainable food and beverage vendors exclusively. Staff here are not only friendly—a rarity in these parts—but they go above and beyond to make sure guests are golden and that goes for pets, too. There’s no fee to bring them, either unless your pooch makes a mess (then you rack up a $250 charge). On site are four pools, including an adults-only rooftop pool, all with spectacular ocean views; 600 feet of beachfront with fabulous cabanas for rent; a beachside food truck serving seriously deelish vegan burgers and Skinny pina coladas; a lobby farm stand; and 3 restaurants, all of which are either vegan-friendly or fully vegan. The hotel also hosts wellness programs, spoken word poetry nights, pottery and mixology classes, and a great kids’ program for wee ones ages 4-10. For those into electric cars, the house car, a fully electric Audi e-tron is available for rides and test drives on a first come, first serve basis.
