Mayfair House Hotel & Garden
Back in the Miami Vice days, the Gaudí-esque, Kenneth Treister–designed Mayfair House was a premier hotel and shopping mall for the who’s who of the Colombian cartel and regular Miami folks as well. After several years of neglect, the place is back to its original glory with lush gardens, waterfalls, and rooftop pool complete with rambunctious rum bar and fireplace—you know, for those chilly Miami nights.
Rooms are shockingly neither beige, blue, nor white and, instead, awash in orange and teal, with handcrafted furnishings, some with teal clawfoot tubs, and an art collection that dates back to the hotel’s original halcyon days. Some rooms have working typewriters and well-stocked bar carts; no two rooms are exactly alike.
The restaurant, Mayfair Grill, is now helmed by one of Miami's best chefs, Giorgio Rapicavoli, who crafts cuisine inspired by his Argentine roots as well as Miami's diverse culinary landscape.
