11th Street Diner
If this diner looks authentic it’s because it is. It was uprooted from its 1948 Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, foundation, dismantled, and rebuilt on this busy and colorful corner of Washington Avenue (a gay bar is right next door, so be on the lookout for flamboyant drag queens). Some of Miami’s most colorful characters, especially the drunk ones, convene here at odd hours, and your greasy-spoon experience can quickly turn into a three-ring circus. Although it can use a good window cleaning, it remains a popular round-the-clock spot that serves breakfast all day. And everything else: over 20 kinds of burgers, 15 kinds of salads, and all sorts of hot sandwiches, baby back ribs and southern fried pork chops. Because this is South Beach, the diner also has a full bar serving signature cocktails and spiked milkshakes.
