Sanpocho

For the best Colombian food, this strip mall sensation is it, with only 14 tables and takeout, with long lines especially at lunch. Come with an empty stomach because they don’t skimp here: the national dish, bandeja paisa, is a massive plate of beans, rice, arepa, chorizo, plantain, chicharrón, fried egg, corn cake, avocado and either ground or grilled beef.  It can feed an entire football team. For lighter appetites, just order a few of the crispy Colombian empanadas with a squirt of lime and spicy aji. There’s also delicious daily breakfast until 11:45 am—the refried rice with beans and scrambled eggs, onions and tomatoes is a wakeup call to your tastebuds and a bargain at only $6. Servers are super friendly. Be sure to check out the tchotchkes on the walls around the place—some are even for sale.
