The River Oyster Bar
Open since 2003, this remains a buzzy and unpretentious spot for some of the best oysters in town, shipped in fresh daily from all over the world. Other hits on the menu include mushroom crusted black grouper, gnocchi and jumbo lump blue crab, and for the landlubber, Brasstown Ranch, pasture raised prime beef from North Carolina in three different cuts. A top spot for happy hour (daily 3-7pm), when the cost of both tipples and oysters drop. Because there are so few tables, it’s usually standing room only at the bar. Good thing is service is swift and oftentimes people end up eating there as they wait for that elusive table.
