Hotels in Mikumi and Udzungwa National Parks

There are two good tented camps in Mikumi National Park, both run by the Fox family and well priced by Tanzanian standards. Most people visit Udzungwa as a day trip out of Mikumi, but those who want to explore the park more thoroughly could base themselves at the Udzungwa Mountain View Hotel (tel. 023/262-0218; www.genesismotel.com; $30 en suite double B&B; $5 per person camping), a decent, locally run place only 10 minutes' from walk from Mang'ula and park headquarters.

Note: Because this is the bush, in most cases, there is either no electricity in the room or a limited solar or generator supply.
