Sustainability is embedded into every aspect of this stunning eco-retreat, from the solar powered water heaters to the refusal to use plastic anywhere on the property. But that doesn’t mean pampering is neglected. Staff are both knowledgable and cheerfully indulgent with guests, especially children, who love the play area here and the swings set randomly around the property. As for the guestrooms, they’re both wonderfully private and woodsy, spread out around the property in contemporary bungalows, all with panoramic windows and terraces so guests can take in the sweeping views. The on-site restaurant uses only locally grown organic produce, and serves hyperlocal fare with an international spin. Some nights there are bonfires, complete with marshmallows to roast and hot cocoa. Aside of the trails right on the property, guests get complimentary access to the neighboring Aguti Wildlife Reserve, which can be accessed by a hanging bridge. The resort is located on a forested hillside that was once home to the old Sapo Dorado Hotel, and is part of the Cayuga Collection.
