Rates here are usually highest in July and August, and lowest November through April. Room tax is about 8.5%.

Camping

In addition to the campgrounds in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park discussed below, I recommend the Hangin' Tree R.V. Park at 17250 U.S. 550 S. (tel. 970/252-7191), with rates from $18 (tent) to $21 (RVs). Conveniently located within walking distance of Chipeta Lakes and open year-round, the Hangin' Tree has a store and very clean bathhouses.
