For a look at the history of the area, visit the Espace Culturel, place du Commandant-Lamy (tel. 04-92-92-50-42), in the St. Bernardin Chapel. It was built in 1618 and traces area history from 1553 to the 1950s. It's open everyday from 10am-12:30pm & 2pm- 6pm (until 7pm May-Sep). Admission is free.
Picasso discovered Mougins’ tranquil maze of flower-filled lanes in the company of his muse, Dora Marr, and photographer Man Ray, in 1935. The Vieux Village’s pedestrianized cobblestone streets—each corner prettier than the last—have changed little over the decades since. The setting is so romantic that, according to locals, former French President François Hollande wined and dined his former first lady, Valérie Trierweiler, in one of the restaurants listed in this online guide. He then proceeded to indulge his mistress, Julie Gayet, in the same establishment. Classy guy.
