Alta Crystal Resort is known primarily as a lodge for skiers at nearby Crystal Mountain, but it’s a fine choice for a summer visit to Mount Rainier, as well. Rooms here are one-bedroom suites that can accommodate a family of four, and loft units that sleep up to 6; all have a kitchen, fireplace or wood stove, and TV with DVD player (the resort has a library of about 700 movies). The romantic honeymoon cabin sleeps two adults, and is a masterwork of log architecture and interior woodworking. The resort offers a long list of recreational activities, including nightly activities in peak summer and winter seasons. A number of trails begin on the property.
