Not far from the Nisqually Entrance in the southwest part of the park, this 1920 lodge is the only year-round lodging on Mount Rainier. But even if it weren’t, it would make a solid base for exploring the mountain, as the inn has easy access to hiking trails in summer and cross-country and snowshoeing routes in the wintertime (rentals available onsite). Guestrooms can be quite small (they vary), but have homey furnishings and boast spectacular views of the summit of Mount Rainier. Which is lucky as there’s nothing else to look at once you’re there—there’s no Internet access or in-room phones or TVs.
