A century after its beginnings as an 1883 flour mill, the multilevel warehouse began life as a live-music venue, hosting acts such as Jane’s Addiction and Midnight Oil. Today the ground-floor Cannery Ballroom holds up to 1,000 people. Upstairs, the Mercy Lounge holds 500 people, and it gets crowded fast, so if you’re seeing your favorite act, plan to get there early to stake your claim. An uproarious crowd usually dominates the scene, drawn in for headliners as disparate as Beirut, Third Eye Blind, the Jayhawks, and Greensky Bluegrass.
