Hotels in Negril
The choice and variety of lodgings in Negril are a bit bewildering, from funky and rustic to first-class and opulent; no place in the West Indies offers more bizarre accommodations than Negril.
Most visitors want a hotel or resort along Seven Mile Beach opening onto Long Bay. Here are all the famous (or infamous) all-inclusive resorts that have secured the best beachfront property, leaving the lesser resorts to fight for their own places in the sun. Many had to build across the main street as a result -- something to consider.
For the escapist, the West End's inns and small B&B-type places are the places to go, although these properties open onto rocky cliffs instead of a beach. Nevertheless, they are much preferred by independent types and are certainly more adventurous. (Note that some of these cliff-side resorts will not allow families with children under 8 to check in, for fear they might fall from the cliffs; most of the paths don't have protective rails.) West End cottages and huts are far cheaper than the resorts on Long Bay. Regrettably, they are also easy for night burglars to penetrate.
If you're seeking really rock-bottom bargains in simple rustic huts that are almost camplike, try to book one of the dozen units offered by Da Gino's, an Italian restaurant. Other dining spots that rent cheap rooms include LTU Pub and Kuyaba on the Beach.
Inexpensive -- Another low-budget option for lodging is found at Da Gino's.
All-Inclusive Resorts
All-inclusive resorts fold the cost of lodging, meals, and often extras such as drinks or sports into one price. The advantage of staying at one of these places is that you can more or less chart the cost of your vacation in advance, providing you don't spend a lot of extra money on entertainment, shopping, excursions, or transportation. Another element all-inclusives offer that most other properties, especially smaller ones, don't is security: Most of these resorts can afford to hire guards to protect the grounds 24 hours a day.
However, because you're paying for food in advance, you'll feel obligated to dine on-site every night -- and the food tends to be unremarkable at best. If you view food as an integral part of your holiday, it might be better to check into a property where you are not a part of a meal plan.

Beaches Negril
Beaches is the all-inclusive Sandals brand that wants the family travel trade so badly it licensed Sesame Street. Yes, your smaller children can go on a beach vacation with Big Bird and Elmo (I shudder to think how hot it must be in those costumes). Still, kind of cool how they…$$$Seven Mile Beach - Hotel
Catcha Falling Star
A clutch of quirky cottages, flowering hibiscus, and stairways amble down the cliffs to ladders leading into the sea at this lovely little retreat. A two-story structure at the back of the property offers several nice suites with four-poster beds and kitchenettes, but I prefer the…$$West End - Hotel

Hedonism II
Hedonism is probably the most famous clothing-optional resort of any general-market all-inclusive in the world. You don’t have to be a nudist or a swinger to enjoy it—there is both a nude beach and a prude beach (the resort lies on a headland at the very northern end of Seven Mile…$$$Seven Mile Beach - Hotel
Jackie's on the Reef
The mission statement of this tiny coral-stone “wellness guest house” really sums it up: “Jackie’s was created as a small temple of no particular faith.” From the morning yoga and meditation classes on the veranda—more like a rustic, open-air cathedral than a porch—to detoxification…$$$West End - Hotel
Moon Dance Cliffs
This small resort opened in 2008 on the low cliffs just past the lighthouse on West End Road. All guest rooms—spacious, with slightly dowdy furnishings—have Caribbean views across the pool and property; deluxe rooms and above have Jacuzzis on the verandas. The sinuous pool…$$West End - Hotel
Nirvana on the Beach
This small collection of private bungalows and studios is set on two shady beachfront acres of tropical gardens bang in the center of Negril’s Seven Mile Beach. Rockhouse
You might think the name is a reference to the musical legends—including Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, and reggae god Bob Marley—who first put this West End hotel on the map back in the 1970s. However, “Rockhouse” is the perfect description of the boutique resort itself: a…$West End - Hotel
Tensing Pen
This is a laid-back resort of thatched-roof, cut-stone cottages tucked amid a slope of tropical gardens on the low cliffs of Negril’s West End. Service is friendly rather than overly solicitous—the staff leaves you to your privacy rather than constantly checking in on you. The…$$West End - Hotel
The Caves
The low limestone cliffs of Negril’s West End are riddled with caves, and this ten-acre resort about 600 yards past Rick’s Cafe makes better use of them than any other West End resort. This adults-only destination spa and wellness center—with 18 thatched-roof stone cottages and curvaceous stone walls carving out patios and nooks—opened in 2011 on two acres of clifftop real estate on West End Road. The goal was to fit into the surroundings, not supplant them—no…$$$West End - Hotel

Way down the West End Road, well past all the other resorts, is an oasis of sea breezes and the sounds of surf called the Westender Inn. It is a haven of relaxing Jamaican hospitality; classic, comfortable, homey rooms; and sunset views from hammocks on the veranda. (The larger size,…$West End
