This high-end all-inclusive occupies 19 acres of Negril’s white-sand Seven Mile Beach. Rather than the usual big hotel blocks, the adults-only Couples consists of lots of small structures scattered all around the lush, tropically landscaped grounds of swaying palms and thatched-roof beach bars, giving the place an exclusive, vaguely South Pacific/Southeast Asia feel.

Guest suites feature simple, low-key island cedar furnishings, king-sized beds, and daybeds on the private balconies or patios. Beachfront suites have little porches with steps leading right down onto the sand. Except for the interior garden veranda suites, most rooms have a bank of louvered windows behind the bed to let in plenty of light and tropical breeze. This is at it most impressively in the Atrium Suites, with walls made almost entirely of windows with louvered blinds under high wood-beamed ceilings. (The Atrium Suites are also the peace-and-quiet rooms, in the center of the gardens and with no TVs to spoil the serenity.)

The 10-acre fitness center across the road features a real, full gym, 10 tennis courts, squash courts, and a 25-meter outdoor lap pool.

The Couples’ version of “all-inclusive” goes beyond the standard menu of meals, premium drinks, and those famous “non-motorized water sports” to also cover complimentary scuba diving, airport transfers, tennis lessons, greens fees at (and transfer to) a nearby golf course, a sunset cruise, and various tourist excursions (to Margaritavilla, a sunset bar, shopping, etc.).
