This worthy public art museum collections include some wonderful works by some of New Zealand’s greatest 19th-century artists, including John Gully, Petrus van der Velden, and Gottfried Lindauer. There's also a superb collection of works by the late Toss Woollaston (1919–1988), a local artist and one of the champions of modern art in New Zealand.
