Welcome to one of the most joyous place you can visit between the hours of 8pm and 2am. A large club decorated with fake palm trees and giant parrots, it specializes in the music that you’d find in the places where, well, you’d find parrots and palm trees: India (great bangra or Indian pop music parties), the Dominican Republic, Trinidad, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and Brazil. Its “Samba in the City” show (scheduled most every Saturday) is one of the longest-running parties in New York, featuring throbbing music and a bravura stage show of samba dancing and capoeira (a dancelike Brazilian martial art). Admission ranges from $10 to $25.
