Restaurants in Newport OR
In addition to its beach and marine-centric attractions, Newport has some good restaurants. In fact, on a coast not known for its great restaurants, Newport shines like a lighthouse beacon. I hope you like seafood because, as you might expect, there’s a lot of it on the menus here.
For an espresso, a slice of pizza, or a good sandwich, drop by Panini Bakery, 232 NW Coast St. (tel. 541/265-5033), in Nye Beach. For pastries and artisan breads, search out La Maison Bakery & Cafe, 315 SW Ninth St. (tel. 541/265-8812; www.lamaisoncafe.com), which is just off U.S. 101. On a hot summer day, nothing tastes better than a pint of microbrew ale at Rogue Ales Public House, 748 SW Bay Blvd. (tel. 541/265-3188; www.rogue.com). There's a second pub over near the Oregon Coast Aquarium at 2320 OSU Dr. (tel. 541/867-3664). For coffee, grab a table on the deck at The Coffee House, 156 SW Bay Blvd. (tel. 541/265-6263), and you'll have a front-row seat for watching all the action on the bayfront.

April’s at Nye Beach
In a charming old building right across from the Sylvia Beach Hotel, April’s is a place that locals love and always recommend to visitors. You won’t find fresher food or produce anywhere. The chef, April Wolcott, picks fresh seasonal herbs and produce from her Buzzard Bay farm,…$$Around Town - Seafood
Local Ocean
Both simple and sophisticated, this glass-fronted restaurant on the Bayfront serves fish and seafood so fresh that you can ask what boat it just came in on. The front opens out onto the sidewalk for summer dining, otherwise it’s small tables in the colorful, streetside dining room…$$Around Town - Seafood
Mo’s
Years ago, when I first visited Mo’s, I was amazed to find that the clam chowder was so thick that I could stand my spoon upright and it wouldn’t fall over. Mo’s is still serving chowder like that. That is what Mo’s has always been known for and what keeps the crowds returning. Mo’s…$Around Town - Coffee/Pizza/Bakery
Panini
This funky little spot in Nye Beach makes the best lattes I’ve found on the entire Oregon coast—and believe me, I’ve looked and tasted a lot of them. They also make really good pizzas and have a bakery that turns out some delectable rolls (try the one filled with raisins) and…$$Around Town - Northwest
Saffron Salmon
Located on the public pier next to the Coast Guard station, Saffron Salmon is about dining on fresh seafood while enjoying a great sea view. Yes, burgers are available for fish-haters, but wouldn’t you rather enjoy mussels and frites, or cod fish and chips, or a fresh filet of salmon…$$Around Town
