For more than a century, the Negresco has been Nice’s most iconic hotel. Its flamingo-pink dome crowns the promenade des Anglais, its Belle Epoque facade turned towards the sea. Guestrooms—a mix of Louis XIV antiques and state-of-the-art bathrooms—have hosted each era’s most noted celebrities, from the Beatles and Salvador Dalí to Michael Jackson. An exceptional collection of private art decorates the public areas. Dining includes the exquisite Chantecler, which holds a Michelin star under the direction of young female chef Virginie Basselot. Basselot is known to tour France on her Triumph motorbike, selecting the best Cancale oysters and Pierlas poultry for her tasting menus (from 175€). She also presides over the less formal La Rotonde bistro (set lunch 39€) and new La Plage beach club.
