Hotels in Ogunquit
There are many family-owned budget- to moderately-priced motel operations around Ogunquit, especially along Route 1. Try the following three choices for a combination of affordability and amenities.
The family-friendly Ogunquit Tides Resort (tel. 800/422-3341) on Route 1 is not a resort—but with two pools, a Jacuzzi, tennis court, coin-op laundries, some weekly rental cottages and apartments, bike rentals and kayak rentals for crossing the tidal river to the beach, it has resort-ish amenities for hotel-ish rates. Most rooms have kitchenettes. It’s usually open from April until November, with double rooms starting as low as $80; peak summer rates, however, begin at around $250 per night.
Just a few steps from Ogunquit’s downtown crossing, the meticulously maintained Studio East Motel, 267 Main Street (tel. 207/646-7297) is open April through October, with peak-season rates running from $55 to $219 double. The rooms are basic, but all have refrigerators, telephones, TVs, and Wi-Fi, and there are a few two-bedroom suites.
The quiet Aubuerge on the Cove, 50 Riverside Lane (tel. 207/646-2741), has great marina views and Wi-Fi, as well as a convenient footbridge leading directly over the tidal inlet to Perkins Cove, which saves you the parking hassles and fees. Rooms here run $155 to $350 double, depending on the season.
Many locals don’t mind getting out of town during the busy summers, so online rentals are plentiful. Try Airbnb, VRBO, Seaside Vacation Rentals (tel. 207/363-1825) or Jean Knapp Rentals (tel 207/646-4548). The local agencies we list here vet rentals, and are around should things go wrong, services many vacationers appreciate. But you might get lower rates through the multinational rental websites.

This classic motor court (built circa 1936) has made the transition into the modern luxury age more gracefully than almost any other vintage motel I’ve seen. It has one six-unit motel-like building, but most of the rooms are in gabled cottages of white clapboard and green shutters;…$$$Around Town
