With 151 sites, Moran State Park (tel. 360/902-8844; www.parks.wa.gov) is the most popular camping spot on the island. Reservations are accepted (and highly recommended) May 15 through September 15 and can be made up to 9 months in advance through Washington State Parks Reservations (tel. 888/226-7688; www.parks.wa.gov/reserve.asp). Additional campsites are available at the Doe Bay Resort & Retreat (tel. 360/376-2291; www.doebay.com), a sort of Deadhead beach resort that charges $35 per night for campsites. If you enjoy roughing it, there are hike-in or paddle-in sites at Obstruction Pass State Park at the south end of the east arm of the island (near Olga). Keep in mind that there is no water available at this isolated and beautifully situated park.
