The hotel originally opened during the halcyon mining days of the 1880s, and saw a long list of luminaries sleep in its beds (Theodore Roosevelt to King Leopold of Belgium) before inevitably going downhill in the mid-20th century. Restored for the new millennium, the rooms and suites are uniquely decorated with antiques and period reproductions, with exceedingly romantic results. Every room has one king or queen bed.
