For a little style at an affordable price, try this small inn just down the street from hip rue des Martyrs. The decor is a little eccentric but very stylish, with bold colors and interesting juxtapositions of old and new. While some rooms are in quiet shades of gray and beige, others can be a little overwhelming (like the one in pink and black). There’s a cozy bar and Internet corner. Despite its resolutely modern look, this building holds a lot of history: Modigliani rented a room here for 6 months, and Victor Hugo and Auguste Rodin lived on this street. Though the views over the back courtyard are uninspired, some guests prefer the quiet of the rear rooms.
