Recently reopened after a complete overhaul, this budget classic now sports a lobby in chic shades of gray and lots of polished concrete. Rooms are polished as well, with splashes of bright color. Tucked in the crook of this L-shaped hotel is a large, leafy garden with tables for alfresco breakfasts. You can even bring your own eats and picnic here after 10am. Eight of the guest rooms on the bottom floor open directly onto a balcony over the garden; about half of the others face onto it. Requests for garden views are taken, but there’s no guarantee you’ll get it.
