Don’t expect anything like the endeavors of the same name in New York or Chicago, but this is one of the best museums in the Valley, and its wide variety of exhibits appeals to people with a range of interests. There are some animated dinosaurs on Dinosaur Mountain, complete with roaring waterfall, and lots of dinosaur skeletons, too. Also of interest are an exhibit on Mesoamerican cultures, a display on Arizona mammoth kill sites, some old jail cells, and a walk-through mine mock-up with exhibits on the Lost Dutchman Mine, the legendary mine in the nearby Superstition Mountains that tantalizes fortune-seekers to this day. There’s also a Hohokam village.
