Highly eclectic and ambitious changing exhibitions fill the three large galleries of this modern structure, designed by Will Bruder, who did the Burton Barr Library downtown. The visionary artist James Turrell has contributed his “skyspace” Knight Rise, accessed from a patio off the museum shop, which you can visit without paying museum admission. There’s an imaginatively stocked gift shop (and an equally imaginative and even bigger one next door at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts, right across the way). It’s open until 9pm (and free after 5pm) Thursday through Saturday, making this a great place to stop by after dinner in Old Town Scottsdale.
