This is among the most appealing large-scale, all-inclusive resorts anywhere in Costa Rica. Not only does it sit on one of the country’s prettiest beaches, but its massive, amoeba-like free-form swimming pool is a marvel, meant to mimic a tropical lagoon. (Parents might want to tag their kids with GPS chips so as not to lose them in the many interconnected sections of water.) There are more than a dozen first-rate eating options, with choices for kids, incorporating superfoods into your diet, and candlelight dinners in the sand. Every handsome rooms here is rightly considered a suite and comes with either one king-size or two double beds. All have either a private patio or balcony in front of the sliding-door entrance. For golfers there’s a wide, resort-style course with trees and water features that attract a range of local wildlife. One of the lakes is even home to a resident caiman. And golf is just one of the many activities guests can take part in each day.
