Hotels in Ponza

The Romans and Neapolitans who vacation on Ponza do not bother with hotels; they either own summer houses here or, more likely, book one of the many case vacanza (short-term apartments or houses) on the island, available for a minimum 1-week rental. If you can commit to that length of stay and don't come in peak-peak season (when prices across the board increase by 50%), this is a very economical option, particularly if you're traveling with a family or group. A four-bedroom villa (sleeps 10) costs from 800€ to 1,200€ per week outside of August and the last week of July, while a two-person flat costs from 200€ to 350€ outside those peak periods. A good agency is Turistcasa (Via Roma 2; Ponza 04027 Italy; tel. 0771/809886; www.turistcasa.it).

Note that the highest hotel rates we've listed are only valid in August. For mid-week stays in other months, you'll often find that hotels are willing to sell you rooms for even less than the lowest rack rate.
