Moda Center is home court for the Portland Trail Blazers, a stage for superstar concerts, and the main focal point of Portland’s Rose Quarter. In addition to the Moda Center, this sports and entertainment neighborhood includes Veterans Memorial Coliseum (once the Trail Blazers’ home, now host to a junior ice hockey team) and several restaurants and bars. Tickets to events are sold through the Rose Quarter box office (www.rosequarter.com; tel. 503/797-9619). To reach the stadiums, take the Rose Quarter exit off I-5. Parking is expensive, so you might want to consider the easy and inexpensive MAX light rail line from downtown Portland. Providence Park (www.providenceparkpdx; tel. 503/554-5400), near downtown, is a much-smaller outdoor sports venue used for soccer and Division I football. It’s easily reached by MAX light rail and on foot from downtown.

Basketball

The NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers (www.nba.com/blazers; tel. 503/797-9600) do well enough every year to have earned a very loyal following. Unfortunately, they have a habit of not quite making it all the way to the top. The Blazers pound the boards at the Moda Center (see above). See website for current schedule and ticket information.

Soccer

Major League Soccer’s Portland Timbers (www.portlandtimbers.com; tel. 503/553-5550), play at Providence Park, 1844 SW Morrison St., near downtown Portland.
