Things To Do in Rambouillet

Rambouillet Attractions

Rambouillet and its forests can provide a verdant interlude. If you've exhausted the idea of a ramble through the gardens that surround the château (or if they're closed because of a visit from the president of France), consider a visit to the Rochers d'Angennes, rocky hillocks that remain as leftovers from the Ice Age. To reach them, park your car on the D107, where you'll see a sign pointing to the Rochers et Etang d'Angennes, about 4km (2 1/2 miles) north of the hamlet of Epernon. Walk along a clearly marked trail through a pine forest before you eventually reach a rocky plateau overlooking the hills and a pond (l'Etang d'Angennes) nestled into the surrounding countryside. Roundtrip, from the site of your parked car to the plateau and back, your promenade should take between 30 and 45 minutes.
