Much of Reims was destroyed during World War I and rebuilt in the years thereafter. This chic hotel, just off the pedestrianized Place Drouet d’Erlon, has been around for over a century and includes part of an old-world stone chapel. Rooms are elegant and modern, in tones of brown, blue or gold. The hotel has a popular bar-brasserie, the Café de la Paix, with a large range of champagnes, and a menu full of steak, salads and seafood – a great place to eat, even if you don’t stay in the hotel. There’s also an indoor pool.
