Planning a trip to Ronda

Getting to Ronda by train is neither cheap nor convenient. Although the views are spectacular, the service is infrequent, and you may need to change trains. There are usually two or three a day from Málaga, taking around 2 hours, costing 20€–40€, and a couple from Granada, taking 2.5 to 3 hours, costing 22€–46€. Four trains daily connect Madrid and Ronda. The trip takes 4 to 5 hours and costs 32€–60€. Trains from Sevilla go via Córdoba and take 3.5 hours, costing 45€–50€. Ronda’s main train station is at Avenida Andalucía.

From Sevilla or Málaga, the bus is a better bet. Interbus (tel. 91-652-00-11) operates four to six buses a day from both cities. They take 2 to 2.5 hours, costing 13€–15€. Direct buses from Madrid and Granada are few and far between. The main bus station is at Plaza Concepción García Redondo, 2.

If you can, it’s best to arrive by car, which also lets you explore the surrounding Pueblos Blancos. From Sevilla, take the A-375, then the A-374. From Granada, take the A-92 heading west. From Málaga, take the A-357, then A-367; from Marbella head northwest on the scenic A-397. The drive to Ronda is not difficult in any direction, but it’s best to avoid driving in town. Taking the exit to Ronda North will bring you to the newer part of town where public parking is plentiful.

The tourist office on Paseo de Blas Infante, s/n (tel. 95-218-71-19), is open Monday to Friday 9:30am–6pm (7pm in summer), Saturday 9:30am–2pm and 3–6pm, Sunday 9:30am–3pm. It offers a 90-minute guided tour of the town for 10€. The privately-run website Ronda Today (rondatoday.com) offers well-organized information in English.

The town is small, so you can walk to most places of interest.
