In Zlatni Rt Park, overlooking the sea, Hotel Lone is Croatia’s first and only member of the “Design Hotels” network. Designed by Zagreb-based architects 3LHD, it opened in 2011, complete with contemporary furniture, and funky artwork and installations by local designers. Room interiors feature clean lines and sophisticated palettes. The Jazz room category doesn’t have sea views, but makes up for it with balconies enhanced with infinity pools and private massaging bathtubs. The property has a vast and luxurious spa with an indoor seawater pool (ideal for winter visits) and an outdoor pool set amid lush landscaping with lots of trees for natural shade. In summer, 2014, the hotel saw the opening of Mulini Beach, with sunbeds and a seafront lounge-bar. The hotel appeals primarily to 30-somethings, traveling either as couples or young families with kids. It’s located about a 15-minute walk from Rovinj’s Old Town.
