In the medieval hill town of Bale, 12 km (8 miles) inland from Rovinj, this family-run boutique hotel occupies a carefully renovated old building. Opened in 2011, the rooms combine existing elements like wooden floors and exposed stonework with contemporary furnishings. A generous breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant, with outdoor tables on a lovely terrace in summer. Reasonably priced Istrian meat and seafood specialties are served later in the day.
