Restaurants in Safed
The first thing you’ll notice about Safed is its multitude of kosher sandwich, snack, and falafel shops along Jerusalem Street (the main downtown road), open day and night, except for the Sabbath, when the whole town is closed up tight. We especially like Bait 77 (tel. 04-698-0984), a delightful vegetarian bakery, which has pastries in the morning, excellent pizzas at dusk (and after). Safed is not a great place for fine dining, but if you have a car, there are good choices in nearby Rosh Pinna and in the surrounding countryside.
Near SafedThese choices are possible lunch or dinner excursions from Safed, but can also be reached from such places as Rosh Pinna, Vered HaGalil, or even Akko, Nahariya, Tiberias, or Haifa. Besides the opportunity to enjoy unusual meals, these restaurants offer a chance to explore remoter parts of the countryside.
