You almost feel like a secret agent taking the elevator up through the Mönchsberg to reach M32, a stylish gourmet eatery and bar with a to-die-for view of the mountaintop. Adjacent to the Museum of Modern Art, the modern interior here, designed by acclaimed Italian architect Matteo Thun, mixes in antlers hanging from the ceiling to create a harmonious mélange of tradition and modernity. This place is far from secret and the changing-daily lunch and dinner menus keep local and regional guests coming back. A meal could combine variations of tuna (one seared, one smoked) atop an avocado crème, followed by steamed char with bacon, spinach, and sweet potatoes, all well-presented and tasty. Eating here is no bargain, of course: Menus range from €58 to €75. In summer, take advantage of the chance to sip bubbly on the terrace without breaking the bank. In general, be aware that these are haute Salzburg prices, and you're mostly paying for the location. Reservations are recommended.
