From Austin, Wine Tours of Texas (tel. 877/693-0800 or 512/458-5466; offers a variety of winery tours through the Texas Hill Country, either half-day or full-day trips. They can accommodate almost any size group. Texas Toast Culinary Tours (, based in Fort Worth, Texas, will occasionally offer tours to small-town barbecue joints in central Texas around Austin.

Historic Texas Tours (tel. 210/467-2534;, based just outside of San Antonio, offers half-day food tours of the city.
