Set in a historic, 1942 home, Isolina is San Jose’s most elegant restaurant, a pretty setting for the city’s pretty people. Guests are seated in one of several intimate dining areas, but if you get to choose, ask to be seated on the beguiling patio, its trees festooned with Edison bulbs. The menu is based around seasonal, Latin American ingredients which are cooked using Mediterranean techniques. So your meal might include roasted octopus with ají amarillo (yellow chili pepper) and potato cream, or beef tartar with taro chips and pork rinds. Isolina’s drink program is among the most accomplished in San José with a selection of wines from small vineyards, and a list of seasonal cocktails.
