This cultural treasure lies at the heart of downtown Santurce, where Puerto Rico's finest performing artists, as well as world renowned performing artists perform. Make sure to find out what's going on when you are in town, or plan your visit to an event you want to see. The center's main stage, named after the legendary opera singer Antonio Paoli room, measures 62 by 50 feet and has a two-level auditorium that can seat nearly 2,000. Known for its fine acoustics, which are attributed at least in part to its suspended platform, the concert hall hosts operas, the traditional zarzuela, symphony concerts, ballet, and popular music concerts. The 800-seat René Marqués, also has great sound and lighting, and is the preferred spot for theatrical productions. The Carlos Marichal Theater is even more intimate, with 210 seats, a favorite with experimental productions.
