One of the top B&Bs in Santa Fe—an intimate compound of gardens and sunny walled patios—is only a few blocks from the plaza. Rooms are outfitted in different styles, including Western, folk art, Spanish colonial, Native American, and Santa Fe. All share a tasteful artistic sensibility, as well as features like beeswax-rubbed walls and hand-carved furniture. Seven units have kiva fireplaces, with wood provided free October 15 to May 1, and the Santa Fe Suite has a gas fireplace usable year-round. All units have either shared or private garden patios. Service is top-notch and attentive. Complimentary beverages are available all day, and snacks including homemade cookies and biscotti are served in the afternoon. Breakfasts, often featuring southwestern dishes using local ingredients, include fresh fruit, gourmet coffee, and a hot main dish such as a frittata or eggs with corned beef hash. The owners of El Farolito also own the Four Kachinas B&B Inn, a six-room bed and breakfast two blocks from El Farolito, with comparable accommodations and amenities.
