Paradiso Cafeteria
It would be easy to miss this marvelous little casual restaurant as the entrance is recessed about 10 feet (3 meters) from the street. But once you enter, you’ll find a narrow, vaguely Art Nouveau room made larger by a preponderance of mirrors and liquor bottles on the walls. Grab a seat at the green marble bar to watch the staff make the thick hot chocolate served with churros in the morning. Return later in the day to sit at a table for such combination plates as batter-fried hake with salad and boiled potatoes or a veal chop with fries, a fried egg, and a special house salad.
