La Maison des Peyrat

This long one-story stone building dates back to the Middle Ages and at various times was used as a hospital for plague victims, a residence for nuns, and a farm. Rooms are decked out in light colors and rattan furniture, and there’s a lovely lobby-salon where you can relax in front of the fireplace. Outside, nature takes over—an enormous chestnut tree shades the terrace, and a wealth of greenery surrounds the building and the pool, where lounge chairs await. One more plus: If you are willing to walk down the hill (10 min.) to the center of Sarlat, you can avoid the ordeal of trying to park in town.
