Manoir de la Malartrie
The most sumptuous way to live in and around Sarlat is at this 19th-century château-like mansion in Vézac, filled with antiques and surrounded by glorious cliff-top gardens and rocky terraces that overlook the Dordogne and La Roque-Gageac village. The five rooms all have plush furnishings in reds, creams and beiges, and overlook gardens, river or cliffs. The two apartments almost feel like mini-lofts, with ample living space, and kitchens for preparing all that lovely produce you’ll inevitably bring back from nearby Sarlat. Breakfast is organic and served in either a stately lounge (complete with beamed ceilings and a huge fireplace) or in the garden alongside the heated outdoor pool. Meals and massages are available on request.
