If you’ve taken the train to Sarlat, you can tumble out of the station and right into this superb restaurant. This might not sound like the best location, but the food here is excellent, with the emphasis, as you would expect, on the many local Périgord ingredients—but given imaginative twists from spices like coriander or ginger, or from techniques like smoking rather than roasting the duck. If you want to go all out, the truffle menu will knock your socks off. The 29€ price fixe lunch is an exceptionally good value.
