A few blocks up from the quay end of the harbor, this Hydra mainstay has simple food and reasonable prices. Murals portray a picturesque version of island life that has long since vanished (and was probably never so idyllic), though the island life passing by the terrace is certainly colorful. The kitchen does a fine job of maintaining old ways: The moussaka, oven-roasted lamb, and stuffed tomatoes are delicious, and the fish soup is memorable.
