This former mom-and-pop grocery store in the center of Gearhart has a classic Cape Cod–style beach feel and is a favorite place to dine in tony, well-heeled Gearhart (if you’re staying in Seaside and want a special dinner, come here). The vintage interior harkens back to the 1930s but the food is pretty much of today, a mixture of comfort foods and health-conscious fare. At lunch, there are appetizing sandwiches, soups (clam chowder, of course), fish tacos and crisp, fresh salads. In the evening, you’ll find well executed dishes like Oregon Dungeness crab ravioli, halibut piccata, char-broiled pork chops, maple-glazed salmon, and Oregon wild-mushroom macaroni and cheese. There’s a good wine list, too. The adjacent bakery, open Thursday through Monday from 7am to 1pm (call for winter hours), is a top place for bread, muffins, and sweet treats.
