Hotels in Selcuk & Ephesus

Given that Selçuk makes the perfect base for visits to Ephesus, and given that almost everyone who comes to Turkey passes through Ephesus, it's odd that there aren't more high-quality places to stay. One nearby alternative to Selçuk is Sirince, a pastoral village in the hills. Five miles east of Selçuk is an embarrassing choice of four- and five-star hotels taking full advantage of Pamucak Beach. These hotels include the Richmond Ephesus (www.richmondhotels.com.tr) and the Sürmeli Ephesus (www.surmelihotels.com) both all-inclusives and both with rates as low as 45€.

Local hoteliers say, "We'll take you there!" -- When competition for clientele gets stiff, consumers benefit. In Selçuk, hotels and pensions are now commonly offering free rides to Ephesus as part of the price of the room.
