Magpie artist and collector Antonio Pérez’s main museum is in Cuenca, but this off-shoot, which opened in his home city in 2023, employs the same highly enjoyable formula on a smaller scale. It occupies a beautifully restored former convent in one of the city’s most historic squares and features hits from the Pérez foundation’s huge collection of 20th century Spanish abstract art, including paintings by Manolo Millares, Rafael Canogar, and Luis Feito, alongside Pérez’s trademark objetos encontrados (found objects), a witty curation of everyday items elevated to art, from road signs to lollipops. Look out for temporary exhibitions and musical events.
