An import from Taiwan, this chain of casual dumpling restaurants has become one of the most beloved in Singapore and the long lines prove it. They serve some of the best steamed dumplings on the island. Their Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings, filled with a bit of pork mince and soup, are to die for little bundles of food love that must be popped in the mouth hole (after a dip in some soy sauce and ginger). They’re impossible to eat in moderation, so at S$6.80 for six pieces, you can easily double or triple that for a table of four. The fried pork chops are equally hard to resist, served solo or atop a little heap of tasty fried rice, and the garlic spinach is another favorite. There are 18 outlets all around Singapore and they’re usually packed, but the line goes fast and service is very efficient.
