Centre de Interpretación del la Malvasia de Sitges
Lovers of wine and rich cuisine should not miss this interpretation center for a grape variety unique to Sitges. Brought back in the early 14 century from the eastern Mediterranean by a mercenary fleet in service of the kings of Aragón, the grape produces intense, heavily aromatic, sweet wines akin to the Malmsey style of Madeira. The wine is frequently treated as a dessert wine and its dried grapes are key to preparing traditional Catalan dishes such as duck breasts or stewed pig’s trotters. The interpretation center offers both self-guided and guided tours, all culminating with a wine tasting.
